my father's brother rex died yesterday, he was 90. a licensed medical physician who was a communist in the 50's and later fired from GE where he was a company doctor for providing abortions which were at the time illegal. i loved uncle rb. after all the drama he relocated to santa barbara where he got professionally reinstated and lived the rest of his life serving the portuguese american community. he also happened to be a homosexual. his lunches were always great.

tonight i had the relaxing pleasure to watch the 133rd Westminster dog show over on capitol hill near the u.s. senate and across from the u.s. supreme court building with a bunch of fun and funny people who brought their pets. lots of laughs, good food and excellent drinks. jim and terry hosted and served pizza, fruit, carrot salad and this odd beverage made with fresh watermellon, fresh basil, bourbon and lemon juice. animal and human rights activist annette lantos, was there telling some great stories during commercials.

problems continue for the proposed Apple store on wisconsin avenue located at the former Reed Electric site north of the exxon station and across from Q St. the problem is....parking. if apple opens at this location traffic will be gridlocked continually. there cannot be more than 20 parking spots available and how many of those will be for employees because georgetown has no metrorail? this store should be in at cityvista where there is plenty of below grade parking spots and a huge parking lot owned by the steuart family nearby.
