this afternoon attended the National Gallery opening of the Mt. Vesuvius Exhibit about Pompeii and the Roman villas. Just think about what those people had to endure even with all their opulence! Their last moments on earth must have been horrible. they all got buried in the ash.

joanna had a 70th birthday party for steve last weekend. it was already a busy schedule for steve being the court back in session. lots of people where present...5 current members of the court and a bunch of others. no one said a word about the presidential campaign. joanna created all the flower arrangements in white and green with a whisper of blue. it was perfect. michael took me to lunch today for my birthday and on the way back he purchased a gift for his father; a 52 card deck of playing cards with a barack obama picture on each one.
