Subject: 630 tons of coal dumped in Anacostia river by CSX

if each railroad car handles 90 tons of coal, then 630 tons is the total amount of coal CSX dumped into the river by 'accident'. when is it going to be cleaned up? we know CSX is going to extract it's cars fast but what about the responsibility for 630 tons of toxic coal and the environmental contamination? how is the 630 tons of coal suddenly dropped into a spot going to effect the the PCB on the river bottom floor? i suppose since it's CSX, they'll attempt to get away with it for as long as they can and stick it to the taxpayer to pay for the clean up.

just received word from my older(much) sister Francesca, that our friend and former neighbor Norman Mailer is dead. yes, deader than a doornail. for years a sunburned olive green Citroen sat parked on the street in front of 565 commercial street, a the wood frame waterfront house, like a familiar marker to guide a stumbler home and where i first met beverly bentley and norman. the shack we rented came with deeded provincetown beach rights and had no idea who lived in the house around the corner. there were the wild, loud happy drinking parties which i always managed to leave before the fights broke out. after the divorce, he married norris and purchased the huge brick waterfront property that joe hirschorn had built for lily harmon. big enough for his mother, sons stephen, michael and the new family to be added on to too. we moved from a rental on duncan lane to another on allerton street at about the same time not knowing that we'd continue sharing the same town beach. we happened to be two similar yet different creative, liberal American families. suspended from the ceiling on their small back porch was a standard naugahyde black everlast punching bag which was more of a joke than it was actually spared with. they converted the garage into an income unit and rented it out to roy cohn whom we got to know for a few season until God called his servant to heaven. roy was a real american angel and could get great tickets to the hottest shows in a second. dayum we miss him.

ok, last night we all received an email via blackberry from AC Groomes. she's like we are, relentless. apparently some foreigner went postal inside the strip club in upper georgetown just across the ravine from dick cheney and bill clinton's house. the dude got so crazed he left the club and returned with a can of gasoline and splashed it on an employee, fired a match at the employee and burned him bad. jesus, my friends over there have told be tales of the neighborhood and the mix of strip bars and illegal massage parlors but this is getting out of hand.

WAITING FOR AN OIL CHANGE

yesterday while over in midcity, i dropped the bmw off for it's winter oil change and 30 point check...you know the ultimate driving machine and all that. while waiting i strolled on over to whole foods for some items i didn't really need. upon returning i was standing in the waiting room at AYT auto service near the front window at the corner of 14th and R and a woman i recognized walked by with a bunch of yellow pompom's purchased from Flower's on 14th.
it was one of two recently elected city council woman. the odd thing about it is that she had a plain clothed wired MPD officer with her. do all city council member have this? why is this person getting escorted by police? she isnt even barbara or jenna bush.

FOGGY BOTTOM CHURCH FIRE

Mariam's kitchen located at western Presbyterian at 25th and virginia nw across the street from the watergate complex and saudi arabian embassy was the scene of a suspicious fire. the IMF paid this church 100,000,000 dollars to move so they could demolish and build their beautiful new building. the church bought a small parcel and ruffled a few feathers in the community with the homeless feeding program that they brought with them from the old location.

LOW FAT VEGAN CHILI IN 30 MINUTES

Serving Size : 4; Preparation Time :0:30
4 cloves garlic
1 large onion
2 tablespoons vegetable oil
2 teaspoons chili powder OR paprika
2 teaspoons ground cumin
1-1/2 teaspoons oregano
1/2 teaspoon red pepper flakes
28 ounces canned tomatoes
2 cans pinto beans OR any beans
1 tablespoon soy sauce
1 can corn

Heat oil in wide saucepan.Add onion and saute over medium heat, stirring often, 3 minutes.
Add garlic. Saute, stirring often, 3 minutes.
Add chili powder, cumin, oregano, and pepper flakes and stir over low heat for 1/2 minute.
Add tomatoes, stir, and bring to a boil over high heat.
Add beans, corn, and soy sauce, and bring to a simmer.Simmer uncovered over medium heat 5 minutes, then over medium-high heat 3 minutes or until mixture is thick

serve with some good bread, butter, salad and have fun!

LEGALIZE PROSTITUTION IN WASHINGTON DC

i've been seeing all these statistics about violent sexual assault, increases is transferring sexual diseases, collateral crime associated with the status quo like drugs and other petty crimes and it seems to me the socially responsible thing to do is to legalize it and tax it.

this works in europe so why not here in washington, dc?

i think it would be wonderful to have it in ward 3 in the glover park neighborhood along wisconsin avenue nw near the vespa dealer. valet parking is a must particularly in that neighborhood with the high profile clientele that would utilize these services. imagine the stream of thugs in escalades and diplomatic limousines impacting the neighborhood. think of the money generated for DC taxpayers relief. the reduction in crime over all. reduce the spread of diseases and fluff up that area of wisconsin avenue. bill clinton is already living on east whitehaven so he could use the existing indian path that cuts through glover park to west whitehaven.
