at least the mayor is openly talking about it with ms rhee and mr lew now instead of after school begins. yeah, it's back to school already soon.

CHILDREN'S MUSEUM
it's been announced the Nation Children's Museum will be at the national harbour complex down in fort washington, maryland on the potomac river below the woodrow wilson bridge. the current site is becoming luxury housing. they were looking at a site near the national mall but it didnt work out. now all the screaming kids will be on the waterfront and hopefully a few will fall in and drown. oops, my bad. that's one museum this queen is glad to see gone. besides, now they can charge an admission fee too.

LIKES SOME NILLA IN HER CHOCOLATE
i've known new council member representing ward 7 Yvette Alexander for several years now. a really nice lady who's always helpful and caring. well now it seems harry thomas jr wants to create a DC council black caucus. something tells me this isn't going anywhere but here a piece from this mornings Wapo about it:

JACK EVANS APOLOGIZES
council members get paid a lot of money for a part time job. so when an insiders development gets through the process without a hearing before the public on emergency legislation we have an obligation and right to ask questions. oh we the questioners will be demonized or characterized as crackpot activists but we're use to that by now.
here's a link to Jack Evans apology relating to the ward 2 land deal where our well paid representatives were a bunch of gutless wonders. it's on the front page of the Georgetown Current:

RESPECTING A LIBRARY
first a link to the declaration:
http://www.csmonitor.com/2007/0719/p14s01-lign.html
in the Wapo, silverman writes clearly concerning the MLK library's elevators and how by degrading the physical plant, the developers almost got away with stealing this asset from the people. today, the MLK is a declared historic monument and i bet that pisses tony williams off who soon returns to town as guess what? that's right, a developer.

SIMPLE HUMMUS or who has time?
soak a bag of dried garbanzo beans in 4 cups of water overnight. dont be spooked when you hear some of the beans popping because they are expanding.
next day. add kosher salt to the water and beans..
cook covered on low heat for 3 hours or until not hard.
meanwhile, grab some parsley from the garden and get the food processor.
rinse parsley and combine it plus the beans and reserved salt water with 3 heads of garlic, juice from lime or lemon, cayenne pepper and a quarter cup of tahini or peanut butter. throw into food processor and make smooth.
refrigerate until later.
serve with tabbouleh & sliced tomato.

LET HILLARY BE HILLARY
i like this hillary clinton where she takes the gloves off and knocks the pentagon PR spinners directly in the teeth. all she does is ask for a briefing on ending the war and they call her aiding the enemy. somebody in the pentagon is scared.

MICHAEL VICK AND DOG FIGHTING
when he was QB at VT michael vick was great but now that he's been charged with all those felony dogfighting charges i must admit he's an assclown. that is all i have to say about that idiot other than if found guilty he should go to jail for a long time.

BU-BYE JURASSIC PARK, DC
soon, very soon, the development will come. isn't that romantic? for the almost 20 years that i'm aware of our neighborhoods been the home of a large population of colored TV's who are also street hookers. they use to be over near 10th and M or blagden alley but they were pushed over here by a mixture of forces including MPD, development and plus the fact that the southside of NY Avenue and 4th NW was really safe for street prostitution. nobody cares about the safety and well being of senior citizens so the city didnt care either. the area was so freaky after dark the MPD officers use to call it Jurassic Park. i dont care where they go or what happens to them but i'll be happy when the girls are gone.

ZINNIA GARDEN AT THE MOHAWK
the basil, parsley and oregano are ready for first cuts as are the zinnia's. fortunately, i got permission from the planter to cut some for the house. i love zinnia's. this year, they're my favorite flower. last year it was the sweet pea. the fifth street gardener came and got his rocks off.....the back of the truck as we moved them to the tree boxes up his way. if anybody else wants some rocks from the Shenandoah national forest you just let me know.

NIXON TAPES
my favorite tape so far is when he orders the safe at the brookings institute to be cleaned out. foul mouth. so funny.
NORTHEAST HARBOR, MAINE
back from a long weekend and so happy they have internet, indoor plumbing and fishing boats. funny how john d rockefeller would create all sorts of equestrian roads, bike paths and walking trails and have so few gas stations given that he owned all that oil. great to see all the relatives and gotta get back there in october when all the tourists are gone.

RHYTHM AND BLUES AMERICANA 1965
this is great...love the sound and adore the audience:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PpoAIDs604M&mode=related&search=
dusty belts out a tune with martha and the vandellas doing backup. the supremes perform a little ditty, but flo is distinctively heard. david ruffin is awesome singing about how much honey he carries along with being envied by the birds and bees.
but the best is the last...my favorites, martha and the Vandellas... rockin the boat!

A DOUBLE HEADED DISCO
Uncle LD just got back from well deserved time off and vacation in Nashville and surrounding Appalachia seeing relatives, old friends and eating lots of preserved pork with fresh vegetables.
i deleted the link to Uncle LD's Podcast because it wasn't gay enough. suffice it to say, Uncle LD isn't Michael Musto, yet.
